Overview & Reviews
A convertible joins the PT Cruiser lineup for 2005.
- Distinctive styling inside and out, spacious cabin with multiconfigurable rear seats, smooth ride, spirited acceleration on turbo models, reasonable pricing.
- Acceleration can be sluggish with base engine, awkward seating position for shorter drivers, unimpressive fuel economy.

Wifes first new car - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By John King - October 6 - 3:56 amThe PT replaced my wifes 72 VW. It is the base model with Auto trans air cond and power windows. It is extremely roomy front and back. Im 63" and have more than adequate leg room in the back seat. My wife is a school teacher and has to haul a lot of supplies which fit easily in back with the seats folded or removed. Only drawbacks are so so fuel mileage (19 city 24 highway) and it takes two hands to open the tail gate.

MY Car - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Rhonda Raven - October 5 - 7:16 amAfter putting a lot of money into getting my paid off Buick LeSabre fixed, then having the CHECK ENGINE light come on again, I had had enough. So I went and got me a brand new PT Cruiser with only 22 miles on it! Ive always loved the look of these cars and they are even more fun to drive than I could have imagined. It is so roomy and spacious inside even though it may not look like it. The PT Cruiser is listed on uglycars.com which offended me at first, but I dont care. I absolutely love my plum PT Cruiser!

PT GT - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By D. Johnson - September 15 - 3:36 amI needed a car that was practical, and when I drove the PT GT I found a practical car I actually liked driving. In good or bad weather, the PT handles well, and has been a pleasure to own and drive.

My PT Cruiser Convertible - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By bilmac1 - September 12 - 1:52 pmI simply love my PT Convertible, it has served me very well, no engine problems, no major problems at all, just routine maintenance, and I have had it for 7 years! It gets decent gas mileage, not like some of todays models are getting, but who can really complain about 20 miles per gallon of 75% town and 25% highway miles.

Reliability Cruises down Highway - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By doug koman - September 6 - 6:50 amgas gauge sticks at "full" then drops to below empty. Dealer says dirt in gas. First American car in 25 years; funny all those imports used same variety of gas without this problem. Clutch goes right to floor without resistance. Stranded on interstate vehicle trucked to dealer. Slave valve worked loose & dropped into transmission. First time dealer ever saw this. 25 years of imports with manual transmissions; never even had a clutch adjustment. Will not buy an American car again. This was a mistake, but thought US quality had improved. Now I cant even trade it as Chrsyler has cut the cost of 05s. Do not buy a PT cruiser.

[BEN] - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Ben Meister - July 24 - 9:26 amWe have only had our PT for 2 months and So Far have nothing but praise for it. It Turns heads where ever we go and has plenty of get up and go for the Interstate. We traded in a 03 for our 05 and the differences are un- beliveable. The styling and handeling have been drasticlly improved.

PTC Convertible - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By NTC - July 22 - 10:00 amFun to drive. Excellent front leg room and very comfortable. Easy instruments to read. Roof is easy to raise or lower. Quiet with roof up ride is smooth. Great acceleration (2.4 turbo). Only downside is fuel economy.
